The AutoCleaver LDF™ is a high precision fiber cleaver, designed for cleaving of large diameter fibers (LDF). It provides outstanding cleaving performance for fibers from 230 μm up to 1000 μm in diameter. The unique and patent pending cleaving process generates typical cleave angles of less than 0.5 degrees. The built-in microprocessor controls all parameters and settings, such as clamping, tension and the exact position and speed of the diamond blade. This control of sensitive parameters guarantees a high cleaving repeatability and accuracy. The fiber is held in place by a NYFORS LD fiber holder which is used to load the fiber into the cleaver. The NYFORS LD fiber holder is selected to match the diameter of the fiber coating or jacket. A v-groove clamp block and a fiber height adjuster has to be selected to match the diameter of the fiber cladding. The NYFORS LD fiber holder as well as the v-groove clamp block, the height adjuster and the distance plate work together as a fiber handling kit to ensure optimum cleaving performance for a particular fiber. These parts may be selected from the Selection Guide Matrix when you purchase the cleaver. The parts are easily exchanged by the operator to set the cleaver up for other fiber dimensions. The cleaver is designed to generate a minimum amount of fiber waste, typically less than 20 mm. An automatic waste disposal system removes any hazardous fiber scraps. The cleaver can be connected to an external PC that gives access to all programmable parameters and settings. The AutoCleaver LDF™ comes in a small bench top design. The AutoCleaver LDF™ is also available in a Fujikura edition, compatible with the Fujikura FSM-45 and FSM-100 series fusion splicers, and a FITEL edition compatible with the FITEL S183/S184 fusion splicers. The fiber is cleaved to the correct length and since the cleaver accepts the standard Fujikura and FITEL fiber holders, the cleaved fiber can be directly transferred to the splicer with no risk of touching or damaging the fiber end.
